American Independence Day Jazz Cruise and see 4 cruise ships depart - Sailing from Southampton

Sunday 2nd July 2017, 15:00 - 19:00

US Independence Day Cruise with the Shieldhall Stomper’s Jazz Band. Listen to some favourite jazz numbers and get close to the departing cruise ships Celebrity Eclipse, Azura, Arcadia and Aurora,  always the chance to sound our whistle and play the ‘Shieldhall Organ’! Learn about Southampton’s links with our cousins across the water including the role Southampton played with The Mayflower and The Pilgrim Fathers; the Blue Riband Trophy and tales of Atlantic crossings, WWII and the GI brides. Coinciding with the Hampshire Food Festival, there will be a range of local foodstuffs and drinks available to purchase, including delicious Caymanas Rum Cakes, New Forest Ice Cream and Flack Manor ‘Double Drop’ real ale.

As part of your cruise, see the impressive engine room with its original steam engines at work and the bridge, with its traditional instruments and gleaming brasswork; admire the ship’s steam assisted stearing gear (similar to that used on Titanic); talk to the Captain and our volunteer crew; pass close to the great ocean liners and container ships; walk the teak decks; relax in the Saloon with our wide range of refreshments including tea / coffee; a range of Titanic bottled beers; wine and hot and cold food, available on all trips.

Children will have fun with our interactive Shieldhall Log Book, collecting stickers from various stations on board!
