Aviation History Cruise to mark Father’s Day (Sun 19 June) aboard SS Shieldhall
In the 80th anniversary year of the first flight of the Spitfire from Southampton (Eastleigh) Airport, SS Shieldhall will be hosting a Sun 19 June ‘Aviation History of Southampton’ cruise along Southampton Water, with guest commentator Colin van Geffen. Colin will be reflecting on not only spitfire’s but also the connections that Southampton and Southampton Water has with the development of flying boats and seaplanes, and pioneering names such as Noel Pemberton-Billing, Hubert Scott-Paine and Reginald Mitchell. Departing Southampton Docks at 3pm and returning at 6pm, Shieldhall’s return up Southampton Water will see her pass the departing Celebrity Eclipse and Azura – always the chance to sound her whistle and the playing of the ’Shieldhall Organ’!

The previous day (Sat 18 June) Shieldhall welcomes the wonderful Soulcatchers aboard for a music cruise and will be in position for the departure of 5 cruise ships – the Arcadia, Braemar, Britannia, Independence of the Seas and Britannia. The Music Cruise departs at 3pm and returns at 7pm. Tickets (£40 adults; children £10, family £90) may be booked as above.
