Shieldhall goes ‘All things American’ in July!
Southampton’s heritage steamship the SS Shieldhall is in the middle of a busy sailing season. An early July highlight sees the ship cruise marking American Independence Day with a 3hr cruise on Sun 3 July between 3pm - 6pm, with the Shieldhall Stompers Jazz Band on board. This is a relaxing trip down Southampton Water, with the Shieldhall passing the departing cruise ships Celebrity Eclipse and Azura on her return to port, whilst a commentary in between the music will recall Southampton's many American connections.
The America’s Cup World Series Yacht Racing on 23 and 24 July is set to be a big attraction, with Shieldhall sailing out to witness the spectacle between 10.30am and 6pm on both dates.
On the Saturday, Shieldhall will coincide her return to port to pass the departing Britannia, Aurora and Emerald Princess, and on the Sunday the Navigator of the Seas
On all cruises, guests will be able to access the Engine Room, Boiler Room and Bridge of what is the largest passenger / cargo steamship still active in Europe. Refreshments, including hot and cold food and a licensed bar, will be available.
