RU40 set to play the Shieldhall this Saturday!

SS Shieldhall has a busy weekend of sailings coming up, with two sell-out cruises on Friday 10th August seeing the 3 Queens in port and a trip to view the famous Cowes Fireworks.

There is an opportunity however to take to the water on Saturday 11th August, when, returning from their popular gig of 2017, Shieldhall will be welcoming tribute band RU40 on board. Expect to hear the hits of UB40 including Red Red Wine, Rat In The Kitchen, Food For Thought and One In Ten. Based in the South of the UK, RU40 have headlined major venues and festivals across the South, entertaining reggae fans and ensuring they sing along to Cherry O, Homely Girl, Kingston Town and many more of UB40’s string of hits.

As an added bonus on the Saturday trip, Shieldhall will be passing the cruise ships Azura, Oriana and Sapphire Princess – always the opportunity to sound the Shieldhall whistle and organ!

As usual with the Shieldhall, it’ll be access all areas, with passengers actively encouraged to explore the Engine Room, Boiler Room and Bridge, and look out over the Solent from the viewing platform of the raised foc’sle.

Sell-out trips mark 3 Queens in Port and Cowes Fireworks

Friday 10th August is set to be Shieldhall’s busiest sailing day of the year, with two sell-out cruises. The presence of the Queen Elizabeth, Queen Victoria and Queen Mary 2 with their distinctive red and black funnels always causes a stir. The good news is that the 3 Queens are confirmed as returning to Southampton in August 2019, and we will have details of trips to see the 3 Queens in port (and their subsequent departure) when we publish details of a selection of 2019 cruises shortly. Cowes Week passengers get great value for their ticket this year, as not only will they see the Fireworks, but also the departure of the 3 Queens and a Red Arrows flypast!

Red Arrows

If you do wish to see the Red Arrows, we still have tickets available for the Bournemouth Air Festival, where the Red Arrows are scheduled to fly on Friday 31st August and Saturday 1st September. To book tickets for these cruises, click here.
