We saw Dolphins on our return trip to Poole!🐬
Steamship Shieldhall returned to Southampton following a week in Poole, and she was given a unique ‘send-off’ from Poole Harbour. A pod of up to 15 dolphins appeared on Shieldhall’s portside and followed her up the harbour, level with the Old Harry Rocks, providing a memorable spectacle for guests on board. Whilst Shieldhall has passed dolphins before in the Solent, it is very unusual to see a pod of this size. Appearing at 10.30am in fine weather and very still water, the dolphins appearance saw Shieldhall's guests and crew rush to their mobile phones and cameras to record the swim past!
Shieldhall has one further weekend of sailings in the 2018 season, on Sat 15 and Sun 16 September, both cruises visiting the Port of Southampton and Southampton Water, departing Berth 48 in the Eastern Docks at 4pm, and returning to Berth 48 at 6pm. Click here for more information.
