Cruise to the Nab Tower – Shieldhall’s 65th birthday revisited!

Saturday 17th July 10:00 - 18:00
Sailing from Southampton
Adults £51.00, Children £13.00, Family £115.00

Saturday 17th July 2021 , 10:00 18:00

With recent Government announcements Shieldhall is pleased to re-confirm its 2021 sailing programme. All sailings will take place under the industry ‘Good to Go’ marque for COVID compliance, which is being worked to by Shieldhall volunteers during our closed season. Sailings will take place under Governmental advice. If any sailings are cancelled (through either COVID concerns or by the Captain – such as with extremely windy weather) then ticket holders will be given a number of options. These include exchanging tickets for a later season sailing; holding tickets for the following years sailing season or requesting a refund. We look forward to welcoming you on board this summer!

Shieldhall was 65 years young in 2020, but had to postpone her birthday celebrations! Now join the Shieldhall crew and help celebrate Shieldhall’s 66th birthday in style as we journey out to the Eastern Solent  and the near mythical Nab Tower! We’ll be recreating the journey Shieldhall carried out for Southern Water during the mid-1980s, when she visited the nearby ‘dumping grounds’. On our return to berth enjoy witnessing the spectacle of cruise ships (including, subject to confirmation, MSC Virtuosa and Celebrity Silhouette) departing the port of Southampton – always the chance to sound our whistle and play the ‘Shieldhall Organ’!

As part of your cruise, see the impressive engine room with its original steam engines at work and the bridge, with its traditional instruments and gleaming brasswork; admire the ship’s steam assisted steering gear (similar to that used on Titanic); talk to the Captain and our volunteer crew; listen to the informed commentary on the sights and sounds of Southampton Water and The Solent; pass close to the great ocean liners and container ships; walk the teak decks; relax in the Saloon with our wide range of refreshments including tea / coffee; real ale; a range of Titanic bottled beers; wine and hot and cold food, available on all trips.

Children will have fun with our interactive Shieldhall Log Book, collecting stickers from various stations on board.
