Please find below important information relating to your sailing:

    ARRIVAL:

Please visit the following webpage which gives you key background information to arriving at Southampton Docks and car parking arrangements. This page also includes a pre-sailing safety video which we request you watch, and answers many frequently asked questions:

In summary, Shieldhall will depart from Berth 110 in Southampton’s Western Docks. Please enter the Docks via either Dock Gate 10 or Dock Gate 20. Boarding for the cruise may take place one hour before departure, ie. from 3pm. We request passengers be on board no later than 3.45pm, as the ship will look to leave promptly at its stated departure time.  Please allow yourself plenty of time to reach Southampton, which will be busier than usual with cruise ships departing from the Terminals.

Free courtesy parking will be available in a parking area approx. 5 mins walk from Shieldhall. Look out for Shieldhall volunteers when you approach the car park. Nearest postcode for satnav is: SO15 0HH.

Limited blue badge parking will be available next to the ship – if you require this facility, please inform our Ticket Manager at tickets@ss-shieldhall.co.uk. It is also possible to drop off passengers who have difficulty in walking close to the ship, but cars must be returned to the Car Park afterwards if you do not possess a blue badge.

Coming into the docks from Dock Gate 10

From Dock Gate 10, take the roundabout second exit and head in a westerly direction (West Bay Road). At the third roundabout (and level crossing) continue (now Western Avenue) past the dock, turning right when marked into the Shieldhall car park. You will have travelled nearly a mile from the Dock Gate entrance.

Coming into the docks from Dock Gate 20

From Dock Gate 20, take the roundabout first exit and head eastwards. Follow the road (Western Avenue) turning left at DP World entrance and on to the next roundabout. Take the first exit (signed for Dock Gate 10) and then turn left when marked into the Shieldhall car park. You will have travelled nearly a mile from the Dock Gate entrance.

    • There is no public transport provision to Berth 110. Those using train or bus connections are recommended to use local taxi services to enter the port.

    CHECK-IN AND SHIELDHALL COVID COMPLIANCE:

Please bring your ticket for check-in by the Purser at the Shieldhall Welcome Terminal (you will have received this immediately following your booking). Tickets may be printed out or shown on a mobile device. All ticket holders are encouraged to register with NHS Track and Trace or leave their contact details at the Welcome Terminal.

Whilst COVID protocols were relaxed on 19 July – with the result that alcohol can once again be served on board – the Shieldhall team will continue to adopt the following precautions for passenger and crew safety:

    • Passengers will be able to visit the Shieldhall Engine Room and Boiler Room under steam (visits will be limited to 6 persons at any one time, and will be marshalled)

    • Visitors to the Bridge will be limited to 6 persons at any one time, and will be marshalled

    • A one-way system will apply in the Saloon / Bar Area where a take-away food and drinks service will be offered

    • Please use the multiple hand sanitising stations found across the ship

    • We encourage the wearing of face masks in enclosed spaces on Shieldhall (ie. when visiting the Saloon / Bar / Engine & Boiler Rooms / Bridge / Gift Shop / Gents and Ladies Heads)

    • Once on board, please observe social distancing measures introduced for your safety – please don’t funnel together. There will be plenty of seating available on the Shieldhall open and awning decks.

Shieldhall has been awarded the VisitBritain ‘Good to Go’ Marque, demonstrating that our volunteer crew are adhering to the respective Government and public health guidance; have carried out a COVID-19 risk assessment and have required processes in place.

    YOUR CRUISE:

Once on board a range of drinks, including bottled beers, tea, coffee, soft drinks, and hot / cold food may be purchased. This will include bacon baps and pasties, plus cakes and confectionery. The Shieldhall Gift Shop will be open with a new line of souvenirs. The Engine Room, Boiler Room and Bridge will all be open for inspection once underway, but please observe the restrictions noted above. Children are welcome on board and will enjoy visiting parts of the ship and completing a ‘Shieldhall Passport’ complete with I-Spy and Sticker Trail.

During your cruise there will be a commentary on the sights and sounds of the Docks. On a busy cruise ship day, we will see Celebrity Silhouette, Iona, MSC Virtuosa and Seven Seas Splendour in berth (subject to confirmation).

Our return to port time is indicative only and whilst unlikely to vary much from the time shown, circumstances may mean we have to return slightly earlier or later at the request of the Captain or Harbour Master.

Tickets remain available for this sailing and also Shieldhall’s final sailing of the 2021 season on Sunday 12 September, Shieldhall’s ‘Boat Show’ cruise between 2.30pm – 6pm. Tickets may be booked online at www.ss-shieldhall.co.uk/bookings
