Dear Shieldhall Ticket Holder

We are looking forward to welcoming you aboard SS Shieldhall for our Heritage Open Day Cruise on Saturday 14 September 2019, taking place between 4pm and 6pm. Shieldhall will depart from Berth 106, (Mayflower Terminal) Western Docks, Southampton, SO15 1HJ.  Boarding for the cruise may take place one hour before departure, ie. from 3pm. We request passengers be on board by 3.45pm. Please allow yourself plenty of time to reach Southampton, which will be especially busy with the departure of three cruise ships.

Parking is available close to the Mayflower Terminal in Parking Eye car parks. Please note there is a charge to park using this facility (as an example, 4hrs is £6.20). Please check the following site for up-to-date information before you travel http://www.ss-shieldhall.co.uk/find_us.

Alternatively, you may wish to park at: Leisure World, West Quay Road, Southampton SO15 1RE. This is also operated by Parking Eye and charges are made between 10am – 6pm (maximum charge is £5.00 for over 4 hours). If you choose this facility, please note you will still need to enter the Docks via Dock Gate 10 after parking your car.

Look out for Shieldhall parking signs when you enter Dock Gate 10. It is possible to drop off passengers who have difficulty in walking alongside the ship, but cars must be returned to a Car Park afterwards. A reminder that Parking Eye car parks require up front payment for the number of hours you expect to be parked. If you do over run, it is possible to pay an additional fee when you return to your car at the Mayflower Cruise terminal car park.

Please bring your ticket for check-in at the gangway with the Purser (you will have received this immediately following your booking).

For those arriving by train: When arriving at Southampton Central Station, walk out to the south (Pure Gym) side, cross the road and turn right towards the traffic lights. Turn left and walk down to Dock Gate 10 (you will see the Solent Flour Mill building ahead of you). At Dock Gate 10, turn right at the roundabout after security, and walk up to the Mayflower terminal Berth 106, which will be on your left hand side. Allow approx.. 15 / 20 mins walk in total.

Once on board, tea, coffee, soft drinks, wine and a range of bottled beers may be purchased. Hot food, including bacon rolls, homemade vegetable soup and quiche, plus cakes, New Forest Ice Cream and a range of crisps and confectionery will also be available. The Shieldhall Gift Shop will be open with a new line of souvenirs. The Engine Room, Boiler Room and Bridge will all be open for inspection once underway.

On Shieldhall's return to port she will pass close to the departing cruise ships Braemar, Independence of the Seas and Sapphire Princess. Expect much tooting of whistles and sounding of sirens as the ships acknowledge one another in time-honoured fashion!
