Steamship Shieldhall is proud to launch a new website, a fortnight ahead of releasing details of its 2021 programme. Southampton’s heritage steamship and former flagship of the National Historic Fleet has remained in dock throughout 2020, but is moving towards COVID-19 compliancy over the winter months and will initially sell a reduced number of tickets for sailings when bookings open on Wednesday October 14.
Shieldhall’s new website has been designed by Brighton-based Surface Impressions, and incorporates a number of special features which will benefit Shieldhall members, supporters and passengers. For the first time, visitors to the site will be able to purchase gift vouchers for trips or experiences, or support the Shieldhall charity by taking out membership online. New online payment methods have been incorporated.
Shieldhall’s volunteer web manager Lewis Folland is delighted with the new site: ‘All our volunteers have been disappointed this summer in not being able to take Shieldhall out to sea, but we have remained busy keeping Shieldhall in a first class condition and introducing COVID measures ahead of the 2021 sailing season. Behind the scenes a lot of work has gone into redesigning our website, giving our supporters more opportunities to engage with Shieldhall. We look forward to welcoming everyone safely back on board next summer, and trust our online experience encourages more people to support the charity. Shieldhall may be steam driven, but our website is now state of the art and this puts us in a strong position to deliver our charitable objectives and keep Shieldhall ‘Alive and Steaming.’
Shieldhall’s 2021 programme will be launched on Weds 14 October at 7am, and will include a selection of 2hr, 3 1/2 hr, 4 hr, 6 hr and all day cruises out of Southampton and occasionally Poole. Numbers will initially be restricted to comply with COVID regulations.
