Dear Shieldhall Ticket Holder,
We are looking forward to welcoming you aboard SS Shieldhall for our final cruise of the season, the Southampton Boat Show Cruise, on Sunday 15 September 2019, taking place between 3pm and 6pm.
Due to port operations, Shieldhall will now depart from Berth 38/39, (Queen Elizabeth 2 Cruise Terminal) Eastern Docks, Test Road, Southampton, SO14 3GG. Boarding for the cruise may take place one hour before departure, ie. from 2pm. We request passengers be on board by 2.45pm. Please allow yourself plenty of time to reach Southampton, which will be especially busy with departure of a cruise ship.
Parking is available close to the ship at the Dock Gate 4 QE2 Short Stay Parking Eye car park. Please note there is a charge to park using this facility (as an example, 5hrs is £9.50). Please check the following site for up-to-date information on directions & parking before you travel https://www.ss-shieldhall.co.uk/find_us_eastern_docks.
Look out for Shieldhall parking signs when you enter Dock Gate 4. It is possible to drop off passengers who have difficulty in walking alongside the ship, but cars must be returned to a Car Park afterwards. A reminder that Parking Eye car parks require up front payment for the number of hours you expect to be parked. If you do over run, it is possible to pay an additional fee when you return to your car at the short stay car park.
Please bring your ticket for check-in at the gangway with the Purser (you will have received this immediately following your booking).
Once on board, tea, coffee, soft drinks, wine and a range of bottled beers may be purchased. Hot food, including bacon rolls, homemade vegetable soup and quiche, plus cakes, New Forest Ice Cream and a range of crisps and confectionery will also be available. The Shieldhall Gift Shop will be open with a new line of souvenirs. The Engine Room, Boiler Room and Bridge will all be open for inspection once underway.
On Shieldhall's return to port she will pass close to the departing cruise ship Norwegian Spirit. Expect much tooting of whistles and sounding of sirens as the ships acknowledge one another in time-honoured fashion!
Tickets remain available for this cruise and also for Shieldhall’s Heritage Open Day cruise on Saturday 14 September. Bookings may be made online at www.ss-shieldhall.co.uk
If you find yourself in Southampton over the weekend there are many things to do, especially on Saturday 14 September, with lots of heritage properties open free of charge, many linked by a Heritage Bus service. For more info, visit www.shods.org.uk
