Summary of Executive Committee Meeting held – December 2012
Minutes of the meetings held on 3rd and 27th October 2012 were approved. The full minutes are available from the Secretary on request.
A Roll of Honour (Commemorative) has been proposed for the Saloon.
Captain Chris Broadbridge has resigned from the Executive.
Dave Rice has been co-opted onto the Executive and appointed Hon Treasurer replacing Richard Walker.
A “representative group” has been invited to the Mayor’s Parlour in February 2013.
2012 was a successful sailing season in spite of the poor weather on many trips. Plans are now being developed for 2013 and any ideas/suggestions for sailings should be forwarded to Graham Mackenzie.
Our bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund has been submitted. We will know if we are successful in March 2013. In the meantime our biggest challenge is to raise some £60k of matched funding by next March.
We have received a grant of £750 from the Transport Trust to help with repairs to the boat deck bitumastic covering. (Note. We now need to find a contractor able to carry out the work).
Commander Ron Warwick has agreed to become a Vice President of the Society.
A number of senior appointments remain to be filled including those of Managing Director (designate) for the Trading Company and a Marketing Manager. Someone out there must know a skilled “marketeer” who would be willing to help us!!
We plan to hold a joint social event with Dunkirk Little Ships during the Maritime Festival in May 2013.
The after Christmas buffet will now take place on board on Sunday 27th January 2013.
The Annual Docklands Service will be held on 2nd January 2013. Capt Roberts has the detail.
The next meeting of the ECM is on 6th February 2013.
The AGM of the Society will take place during March/April 2013. A formal Notice of AGM will appear in the next edition of Shieldhall Matters.
