Summary of the Executive Committee Meeting held on 6th April 2018

The Treasurer reported that the current financial position was relatively healthy with funds available to cover the expected cost of the upcoming drydocking in Falmouth.

The Annual report and accounts of the Society were presented and approved in readiness for the AGM.

Current insurance policies are due for renewal on 1st May 2018 and competitive quotes are being reviewed.

Preparation for the drydocking which is scheduled for later in April is well advanced.  As planned, some work has already been carried out using a local contractor and this has proven very successful.  The Chairman complemented the team involved for their efforts and professionalism.

Work is in hand to update Data Protection Policies and Procedures to comply with the new GDPR legislation which comes into effect on 25th May 2018. 

The Magazine Editor (L. Murray) attended by invitation to discuss his paper on options for the future of the magazine.In the paper he indicated that he felt that it was time to step down towards the end of 2018.He also outlined a number of options for taking the magazine forward and developing its content and circulation.These were discussed, and it was decided that a hard copy format should continue.It was also agreed that a small editorial sub-committee should be set up to assist during the transition to new editor and the development of the options for taking the magazine forward.

As a result of recent publicity, a member (David Start) has come forward and volunteered to take on the role of Archivist.  He will be assisted by John O’Hare and Maurice Meredith. 

Membership was reported as currently standing at a total of 803l.There has been a loss of 63 deceased or lapsed members during the year.39 new members have joined.

A procedure for awarding Honorary Membership and/or Complementary Tickets has been agreed as follows:

  1. Honorary Membership may only be awarded by the ECM,
  2. Concession Tickets may only be issued with the approval of the Chairman, the CEO or the Operations Director.
