Summary of the Executive Committee Meeting held on 7th December 2018
The Chairman reported on a positive meeting with representatives of ABP and the confirmation of berth arrangements for the 2019 season. Only 10 crew parking spaces will be available at Ocean Gate and passenger parking was a concern to be addressed. Discussions will continue to seek a long-term solution to the berthing issue.
Pre-season ticket sales were progressing well, with in excess of £7,000 taken by the end of November. A Black Friday offer had proved popular.
The Committee noted the new MCA requirement for the ship to be dry docked annually from 2020. The possibility of seeking a dispensation is being investigated.
The Webmaster (Lewis Folland) attended to brief the meeting on the potential development and upgrading of the website.
The Terms of Reference for a Fundraising Committee were reviewed and agreed. A priority will be to find a well-known ‘name’ to lead the process.
The Committee noted the change of editorship of the magazine and expressed appreciation for the work of Louis Murray in the development of Shieldhall Magazine and a smooth transition to the new joint editors. The proposal to develop an Editorial Committee continued to be strongly supported.
It was the view of the Committee that a Half Year meeting no longer served a useful purpose and attracted only limited support particularly from active crew. It was agreed that more emphasis should be placed on improving attendance at the AGM and general communication with Members and Volunteers
