We’ve got a busy summer holiday programme, with 11 cruises scheduled between 31 July and 30 August!

Steamship Shieldhall has a busy summer holiday programme, with 11 cruises scheduled between 31 July and 30 August. The Shieldhall bar will be open on these sailings, serving real ale, bottled beers, wine and spirits. We will continue to control numbers visiting the working parts of the ship and have one-way systems in place in certain areas. Shieldhall has been awarded the Covid-19 Good to Go marque.

Needles sailing Saturday 7 August

One of the most popular trips of the year sees Shieldhall sail to the Needles on Sat 7 August, between 10.30am – 6pm. The iconic rock formation and lighthouse is one of the country’s most loved views, and the steady viewing platform of Shieldhall will offer some wonderful photographic opportunities. We will also pass Iona, P&Os new flagship, on the date of her maiden voyage.

Trip to view the Fastnet Race, Sunday 8 August, 09:30am – 6pm

The following day sees Shieldhall leave 110 berth at 9.30am to see the early stages of the Fastnet Race – expect more wonderful photographic opportunities as we get up and close to yachts participating in the race.

Two trips a day are planned for the weekend of the 14 / 15 August, with morning sailings visiting the docks, an ideal trip for families and those wishing a shorter time on the water. Afternoon sailings will head to the Solent before returning to berth, passing outgoing cruise ships. Saturday’s sailings will be themed to the Titanic, with guest Andy Skinner from Southampton Cultural Services our guest speaker on the Saturday afternoon.

Welcome return of RU40 on Sunday 22 August, 4pm – 8pm

We’re looking forward to seeing our friends from RU40 performing live on Shieldhall. Those who’ve sailed on this trip before will know it is the most chilled out trip of the year, with the band playing hits such as Kingston Town, Food for Thought and Red Red Wine.

One way trip from Southampton to Poole, Bank Holiday Monday 30 August, 10am – 4pm

Shieldhall ends the month of August with a positioning trip to Poole, from where she will sail out to view the Bournemouth Air Festival. This sailing will mark 30 years of Shieldhall sailing ‘in preservation’, and is a firm favourite as Shieldhall not only passes the Needles but also the Old Harry Rocks, before entering Poole Harbour and passing Sandbanks and Brownsea Island.
